Sentence for trespassing conviction: one week in county jail

A Walls man was bound over to the Panola County Grand Jury in Batesville Municipal Court Wednesday.
Joseph D. Landis, 8705 Hwy. 61, Walls, is charged with forgery. His bond was set at $2,500.

He is also being held on other felony charges in other counties.

Settling old fines
Michael Fondren of 20 Earnestine Turner Rd., Sardis, was in court to settle old fines.

Judge Bill McKenzie sentenced Fondren to a year in jail, which he had already served awaiting trial on murder charges in connection with the shooting of Jeremy Wright in Batesville January 16, 2012.

Fondren told the judge he wanted to take care of old tickets and he had just served one year for murder.

“One year for murder?” McKenzie asked Fondren.

Fondren indicated he had entered a plea bargain agreement, pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit murder.

Trespassing case
Michael L. Brassell, 2887 Nash Rd., Batesville, was sentenced to a week in jail, which he had served awaiting a trial on charges of  trespassing at West Ridge Apartments, 214 Tubbs Rd.

“Have you been told to not go over there?” asked McKenzie.

“Yes,” Brassell said.
“What’s going to keep you away?” McKenzie asked.

“Oh, it’s over with. I am never going to be around her again,” Brassell replied.

Brassell was also on hold for child support.

Other cases
Roddricus Robinson, 1023 Wells Ext., Courtland, entered a guilty plea to disorderly conduct on February 8 by throwing a desk at the South Panola Alternative School.

He was fined $315.

Latoya Fondren, 20 Earnastine Turner, Sardis, entered a not guilty plea to simple assault against Zelethia Roseborough. A trial was set for March 6.

Terry L. Armstrong, 10683 Ballentine, Sardis, had a simple assault case dismissed after the affiant, Steven Burgess failed to appear.

Kuayla Turner, 328 Hays St., Batesville, had a simple assault charge dismissed after the affiant, Justin Market, failed to appear to prosecute.

Jonathan French, 111 Dawn Cove, Courtland, entered a not guilty plea to domestic violence-simple assault. A trial was set.

Jesus Pena, 307 Booth St., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to domestic violence. He was fined $404.
Bronjase Willingham, 210 Pearson St., Batesville, failed to appear to answer domestic violence-simple assault charges. Fox Bonding was notified.

Nolan Henderson, 632 Ross St., Lambert, failed to appear to answer a shoplifting charge. Fox Bonding was notified.

Kevin Reynoso, 1523 County Line Rd., Jackson, paid his fines of $1,301 in full prior to court for DUI-first refusal, no driver’s license and reckless driving.

Michael S. Taylor, 199 Fox Run, Courtland, was fined $305 for no driver’s license.

Alicia L. Wiginton, 48 Hickory Lane, Sardis, was fined $605 for no proof of insurance.
