Thelma Jeanette Hannah

GRENADA–– Thelma Jeanette Hannah, 80, formerly of Batesville, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Grace Health and Rehab in Grenada.

Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial will be in Batesville Magnolia Cemetery. Hal Johnson will officiate. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.

Hannah, born Nov. 2, 1932, in Tallahatchie County, to the late James Walter Bailey and Mary Florie Smith Bailey, was a caregiver and a member of Locke Station Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Calvin Hannah.

Survivors include: one sister, Christine Mitchell of Batesville and one brother, Eugene Bailey of Tillatoba.
Memorials may be made to Locke Station Baptist Church, 19 Bill Locke Rd., Marks, Miss. 38646.

Eddie Mae Jones

SENATOBIA – Eddie Mae Jones, 88, died Monday, January 7, 2013, at Senatobia Convalescent Center.

Services were held Thursday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Michael Tullos officiated. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Mrs. Jones was born to Ida Mae Prysock and Ben Wood on July 5, 1924 in Quitman County. She was a member of Assembly of God and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Leonard Jones and two sons, Joel Jones and Dewain Jones.

Survivors include two daughters, Lyndal Bray of Hernando and Janell Buck of Sardis; three sons, Travis Jones of Denton, Texas, Ronald Jones and Dale Jones, both of Batesville; one sister, Mary Wood Cook of Hickory Flat; 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Johnny Wayne Lantrip

SARDIS –– Johnny Wayne “Red” Lantrip, 61, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services were held Saturday January 5 at Ray Nowell Funeral Home in Sardis. Burial was in Union Cemetery. Ray Nowell Funeral Home had charge.

Lantrip, born to the late Bobby Lea Jones Lantrip and Howard Russell Lantrip, was a member of First Baptist Church of Sardis and a former member of Sardis Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Russell Lantrip; one niece, Melissa Lantrip and one nephew, Matthew Lantrip.

Survivors include: his aunt, Anne Jones and one nephew, Paul Lantrip, both of Sardis.

George Lewis

SARDIS –– George Lewis, 72, died Saturday, January 5, 2013, at his residence.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shiloh C.M.E. Church of Sardis. Theodoric Stephen will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Lewis was born March 3, 1940, in Sardis, to the late Roosevelt Lewis and Lucinda Wheatley.

Survivors include: five brothers, Calvin Lewis, Joe Lewis and James Lewis, all of Batesville and Alvin Lewis of Holly Springs and Willie Pride of Oklahoma and three sisters, Emma Anthony of Kankakee, Ill., Mary House of Sardis and Dorothy Robertson of Tulsa, Okla.

Bobby Reid “Bobcat” Mangrum

Lifelong Panola resident Bobby Reid “Bobcat” Mangrum, 62, was found dead at his home at Coles Point Wednesday afternoon, January 9.

Mangrum was a graduate of South Panola High School and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mangrum was the son of the late Wayne and Robbie Mangrum. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Wayne Mangrum, and a son, Forrest Wayne Mangrum.

Survivors include his daughter, Natalie Mangrum of Carthage, and several cousins.
