Panolian seeking World War II vets for special section

By Rita Howell

The Panolian is planning a special Veterans Day tribute to World War II veterans still with us. Those who served in the military during World War II are asked to supply the newspaper with information for the special page to be published on Friday, November 9. Veterans Day is November 11.

The form is printed on page A8 of today’s edition. The newspaper needs the veteran’s name and rank, branch of service and years served, places where stationed, the veteran’s military job, and employment after the war.

The form also requests information about the veteran’s wife and children and community activities. In addition, WWII vets are also asked to lend The Panolian a photo of themselves during the war.

Anyone with questions may contact Rita Howell at The Panolian, 563-4591.

The deadline for supplying information is Monday, October 22.

Coloring contest

The newspaper invites children ages 2-10 to enter its annual fall coloring contest.

Watch Friday’s issue for a picture to color, or dig out last Friday’s edition to find it. The deadline to enter the contest is Wednesday, October 24. The winning artists will be announced in The Panolian on Tuesday, October 30.

Co-sponsors of the contest are Jenkins Refrigeration, B.C. Fencing, New Beginning Daycare, Treasurer Loans of Sardis and Batesville, Angela’s Hair Design, The Barkery and Panola Title Loans.
