Edward Wayne Donahou Sr.


SARDIS – Edward Wayne Donahou Sr., 54, died Thursday, October 11, 2012.

Services were held Saturday at Ray Nowell Funeral Home in Sardis. Donahou, born Oct. 3, 1958, in DeRidder, La., to Charles Leonard Donahou Sr. and the late Dorothy Fay Scribner Donahou, was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Donahou.

Survivors along with his father, include: his wife, Connie Lynn Donahou of Sardis; three daughters, Christy Mills of Batesville, Crystal Donahou and Cassandra Donahou, both of Sardis; one son, Edward Donahou Jr. of Sardis; two sisters, Glenda Donahou of Baton Rouge, La. and Regina Donahou of Sardis; four brothers, Charles Donahou Jr. of Senatobia, Robert Donahou Sr. of Senatobia, Richard Donahou and Denver Donahou, both of Sardis and 10 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

William Wallace Henry

BATESVILLE – William Wallace Henry, 72, died Sunday, October 14, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Batesville Presbyterian Church with Melodie Pointon officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Batesville Presbyterian Church. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.

Henry, born July 24, 1940, in Panola, to the late T.J. Henry and Grace Thompson Henry, was owner and retired from Henry Plumbing Service in Batesville. He was a member of Batesville Presbyterian Church where he was a deacon. He was a member of the Batesville Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include: his wife of 42 years, Peggy Ketchum Henry of Batesville; one daughter, Tina Marie Mitchell of Pleasant Grove, Ark.; three sons, Thomas Christopher “Chris” Henry of Pope; Kevin Dean Henry of Pope and Darryl Keith Henry of Horn Lake; two sisters, Betty Tutor of Coutland and Anne Raley of Banner; two brothers, Wayne Henry of Eudora and Larry Henry of Batesville; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Batesville Presbyterian Building Fund, 121 Eureka St., Batesville, Miss. or the Panola County Cancer Relief Fund, P.O. Box 1718, Batesville, Miss. 38606.


Floy Belle Newman Lipe


POPE – Floy Belle Newman Lipe, 91, widow of James Ray Lipe, died Thursday, October 11, 2012, at her residence.

Services were Sunday, at the Batesville Church of Christ with Michael Bates and Robert Rawson officiating. Interment followed at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Mrs. Lipe was born on December 20, 1920, in Enid, to Oscar Vernon and Jessie Blanche Martin Newman. She graduated from Enid High School in 1938. Mrs. Lipe was the co-founder and partner of Lipe Well and Supply Co., James R. Lipe Gas Company founder and editor of the “Driller’s Bit” for the Miss. Water Well Contractors Assoc. She was a charter member of the Batesville Church of Christ and also a charter member and past president of the Pope Woman’s Club. Mrs. Lipe authored two books of poetry, “Pieces of My Heart” and “More Pieces of My Heart.” She enjoyed quilting, traveling, entertaining, homemaking and gardening. Many people will remember Mrs. Lipe from her Bible teaching.

Survivors include: her daughter, Molly Lipe Dawidow and husband Michal of Sopot, Poland; two sons, David Larrimore “Larry” Lipe and wife, Rebecca of Batesville, and Casey Ray Lipe of Batesville; five grandchildren, Lacey Rae Lipe Moore, David Liles Lipe, Annabelle Dawidow, Erika Casey Lipe and Jesse Ray Lipe along with two great granddaughters, Reaghan Moore and Rielly Moore.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse, James Ray Lipe, grandson, Michael Ray Dawidow, four sisters, Inez Taylor, Imogene Newman Adcock, Tommie Newman and Elizabeth “Baby” Taylor and two brothers, Jessie Newman and Oscar Vernon “Sonny” Newman.

Robert Leon Solomon

SARDIS – Robert Leon Solomon, 52, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012.

Services were held Saturday at Ray Nowell Funeral Home Senatobia Chapel. Burial was in Union Cemetery near Sardis. Ray Nowell Funeral Home had charge.

Solomon was an employee for Fed Ex for 25 years.

Survivors include: his wife Jackie O’Neal Solomon of Sardis; one daughter, Britney Solomon Johnson of Horn Lake; one son, Hunter Solomon of Hernando; one sister, Wanda Moore of Cincinatti, Ohio and two grandchildren.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be sent to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
