If Dennis Darby our sheriff had reacted to Kerry Terrell McGhee in any other way or manner, (“Sheriff: no regrets for holding back, taking punches in scuffle,” June 19) other than the way he did, the next newspaper out could have stated in bold headlines, “Buford Pusser is on the loose in Panola County, only he is NOT carrying his stick.”

Now, our sheriff could have handled this situation differently, but he chose to handle it correctly.
