Jackie “Jack” D. Neth

SARDIS — Jackie “Jack” D. Neth, 73, died Friday, May 18, 2012, at Veteran Affairs Home in Oxford.
Services were held Monday at Wells Funeral Home. A private burial was in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Neth, born July 17, 1938, in Kidder, Mo., to the late Orville J. and Virginia Shores Neth, was the plant manager of Plaspro for 30 years and was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. He honorably served his country in U.S. Coast Guard as an Engineman Second Class.

Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Delores Hartman Neth of Sardis; two sons, Rick Neth and his wife, Beth of Batesville; Royce Neth and his wife, Jennifer of Sardis; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family requests that anyone wishing to send memorials in Jack’s memory to forward those to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Sardis.


Robert L. Nix

BATESVILLE –  Robert L. Nix, 67, died Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Batesville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Melodie Jones Pointon officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Nix, born to Robert Lee and Alice Clenney Nix in Blakely, Ga. on Nov. 8, 1944, grew up in Jacksonville, Fla. and graduated from Paxon Senior High School in 1962. He was a musician, vocalist and producer in the entertainment industry. He was also a member of the Batesville Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Alison Heafner Nix of Batesville; two daughters, Scarlett Nix Phillips of Palatka, Fla. and Wendi Nix Garecki of Indianoplis, Ind.; one son, Chad Heafner of Batesville; one sister, Faye Nix Duncan of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Robin Greg “Pee Wee” Nix of Jacksonville, Fla. and Neely Michael “Runt” Nix of Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandchildren, Hailey Joy Heafner and Jack Henry Heafner and his mother-in-law: Joy Wallace Robison of Batesville.

Georgia Frances Seale

BATESVILLE – Georgia Frances “Sissy” Figg Seale, 87, died Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.

Services were held Sunday, May 20 at Dickins Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in Batesville Magnolia Cemetery.

Mrs. Seale was born May 21, 1924 in Courtland to the late Forrest Eugene and Valeria Herring Figg.
She graduated from Delta State University with a degree in business and worked in the POW camp in Como during World War II. She worked for many years as the bookkeeper for The Panolian.

A charter member of the Batesville Explorer’s Bible Study, she served as president of the Batesville Woman’s Club, was a member of the James Gillion Chapter of the DAR, was president of the VFW Auxiliary and served as a leader for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

Seale loved to travel with her family. She attended Sardis Presbyterian Church.

She leaves her husband, James Harvey Seale of Batesville; two daughters, Georgeanne Seale Smith and husband John of Greenwood and Pat Seale Neely and husband Ralph of Memphis; one sister, Jane Figg Seale of Batesville; two grandchildren, Georgia Hart Smith and James McKay “Jay” Seale. She was preceded in death by her son, Jim Seale.
