After South Panola’s track coach Eric Rice left to take a head football coaching job, Coach Matt Mock took over the track program three weeks ago.
South Panola participated in a track meet at Lake Cormorant Saturday. No field events were held.
Due to other conflicts only three teams participated with Horn Lake, South Panola and Lake Cormorant.
A former 200 meter state champion in ninth grade, senior Tony Conner shined for the day. He took first place in the 100 meter and first place in the 200 meter with a 22.5 time.
The 4×200 meter team of Clifton Willingham, Gabriel Lloyd, Tay Turner and Conner took first place with a 1:32 time.
In the boy’s 800-meter Devontae Readus came in second with a 2.27 time. Garner Barbie placed third in the boy’s 3200 meter with a time of 12.57.
The boy’s 4×100 meter came in third as they were clocked at .46 seconds. Running was Clifton Willingham, Gabriel Lloyd, Jaleel Lee and Je’Tavious Turner.
The 4×400 meter team of Shaquille Simmons, Keshaun Draper, Titus Oliver and Clifton Willingham came in third with a 4.20.
The girls 4×200 meter team of Michella Carr, Erica Chapman, Erin Chapman and Jabrea Joiner was clocked at 1.56 to take first place.
Erin Chapman took second place in the girls 800- meter with a 3.14 time. In the 4×100 meter Thomas, Kare Irby, Tiffany Williams and Haley Lloyd took third with a 1.02 time.
Joiner, Lloyd, Erin Chapman and Thomas were placed third in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 5:08.
The next track meet will be at Aberdeen on April 10.
