BRANDON – Doris Wood Floyd, 87, formerly of Sardis, died Monday, February 27, 2012, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Services were held Wednesday at Rose Hill Cemetery. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home had charge.
Floyd, born Feb. 9, 1925, to Joel Russell Wood and Ellen Wilkerson Wood, was a graduate of Sardis High School and University of Mississippi. She taught school in Sardis and Indianola was a charter member of Brandon Baptist Church. She was a member of Jackson Bridge Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Douglas “Mutt” B. Floyd Jr.
Survivors include: two daughters, Judy Floyd Robbins of Oxford and Nancy Floyd Patrick of Pelahatchie; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy L. Frederick, 77, widow of the late George Thomas Frederick, passed away on Saturday morning, February 25, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.
Services were held Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Chris Cooksey officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Mrs. Frederick, born September 3, 1934, in Batesville, to the late James K. and Emily Corrine Hughes Russell. She was a retired factory worker for Joilet Army Ammunition Plant and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Thomas Frederick.
Survivors include: two daughters, Terry Willson of Batesville, Debbie Gross of Olive Branch; two sons, Churck Frederick of Pope, Barry Frederick of Courtland; two sisters, Ruby Beatty of Virginia and Katherine Cannon of Batesville; one brother, Hollis Russell of Batesville; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
BATESVILLE – L.C. “Mac” McCurdy, 78, died Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Robert Rawson and Mr. Michael Bates officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. The McCurdy family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
Mr. McCurdy was born on June 21, 1933 in Water Valley, MS to Lawrence L. and Louise McCullar McCurdy. Mac was a member of the Batesville Church of Christ. He worked for MS Dept. Of Transportation as a Lab Technician for 25 years. Mac also served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Survivors include: his wife, Billie Jean Brockman McCurdy of Batesville; three sons, Robert Steven McCurdy of Memphis, Russell Glen McCurdy of Knoxville and Kenneth L. Click of Medina, Tenn.; one sister, Gerry McCurdy Holliday of Memphis; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

BATESVILLE- Lawrence Strong, 65, died Sunday, February 26, 2012, at Graceland Care Center in Oxford.
Services will be held Saturday at noon at Bethleham M.B. Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held today from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Eddie Robison Funeral Home in Batesville.
Strong was born Feb. 15, 1947, in Batesville, to the late Louicious Staples and the late Virginia Eva Poole.
Survivors include: three sons, Tommy Lee Strong of Batesville, Edward Poole of Water Valley and Eddie Strong of Batesville; seven daughters, Martha Poole of Oxford, Brenda Strong of Southaven, Camera Strong of Batesville, Diana Strong of Southaven, Cherry Goodson and Ollie Hall, of Batesville, and Calandra Collins of Oxford; 10 sisters, Ella Poole, Gennie Smith, Anna Sisk and Lillie Henderson, all of Batesville, Yvette Cauthern of Oakland and Johnny Jackson of Memphis, Emera Thompson of Oxford, Patrica Fletcher of Batesville, Shire Ann Sanford of Courtland and Dorothy Brown of Chicago; four brothers, Robert Poole of Como, Clyde Poole, Solomon Poole and Larry Poole, all of Batesville; 27 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
BATESVILLE – Annie Ruth Swindle died Thursday, March 1, 2012. Funeral arrangements will be announced when they are completed by Dickins Funeral Home, which has charge of arrangements.
BATESVILLE- Derwin Leon Wilson, 48, died Saturday, February 25, 2012.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shady Grove Church of God in Cascilla. Rev. David McGarrah and Forrest Farmer will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held today from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home.
Wilson, born June 3, 1963, in Morton, to the late Arthur Leon Wilson and Frances Laverne Parker Wilson, worked at Tucker Manufacturing.
Survivors include: one daughter, Amanda Grace Bledsoe of Batesville; one son, Benny Wilson of Griffin, Ga.; three sisters, Glenda Kendell of Cascilla, Teresa Bullard of Batesville and Priscilla Andrews of Alton; one brother, Danny Wilson of Pope and two grandchildren
