Ouida Clarence Crouch

BATESVILLE –  Oudia Clarene Crouch, 92, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at her residence.

  

 Services were held Friday, February 3, at Dickins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Pisgah Cemetery, near Batesville. Dickins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Crouch was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church. She loved sewing for her children and taking care of her flowers.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Lonnie B. McCullar and Beatrice Brewer McCullar.

    Survivors include her husband, Eugene W. Crouch of Batesville; three daughters, Patricia C. Prince, Barbara C. Pound, and Brenda C. Brown, all of Batesville; two sisters, Olivia M. Hudson and Clara M. Bullington, both of Batesville; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

     In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be sent to Pisgah Cemetery, 4124 Sardis Lake Dr., Batesville, MS 38606.

Joe Edward Fortner

LAMBERT-  Joe Edward Fortner, 91, died Tuesday, February 1, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi. He was the father of Wanda McClure of Batesville.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Lambert. Burial will be in Lambert Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home has charge.

Fortner, born April 2, 1920, in Mantee, served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lambert.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae Cannon Fortner and one son, Joe David Fortner.

Survivors along with his daughter, include: three daughters, Betty Easley of Olive Branch, Rita Pittman of New Albany and Deborah Wimberly of Clarksdale; four sons, Allen Fortner of Vance, Wallace Fortner of Maben, Paul David Fortner of Sumner and Stanley Fortner of Water Valley; one brother, Buck Fortner of Lambert; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren.

Mattie Pearl Phillips


SARDIS-  Mattie Pearl Phillips, 60, died Friday, February 3, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services will be held Saturday at noon at New Trinity M.B. Church. Burial will be in Askew Grove Cemetery in Sarah. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.

Phillips was a member of New Trinity M.B. Church where she was a choir member.

Survivors include: nine sisters, Stella Phillips, Mae Phillips, Earnestine Phillips and Linda Mabry, all of Sardis and Mary Britto, Callie Mae Pettis, Annie Mae Hunt and Earmine Oliver, all of Como and Ella Hunt of Longtown; two brothers, Elmore Phillips of Como and Herman Hunt of Memphis.

Stacy Turner

WATER VALLEY-  Stacy Turner, 79, died Thursday, February 2, 2012, at his residence. He was the father of Nicole Oliver of Batesville.

Services were held Wednesday at Water Valley Civic Auditorium. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Hodges Freeman Funeral Home had charge.

Turner was a retired coop-hanger from Motts.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Mae White-Turner.

Survivors along with his daughter include: nine sons, Bobby Turner of Oxford, Troy White of Toledo, Ohio, Christopher Turner of Houston, Texas, Craig Crawford, Ray White, Johnny Turner, Michael Turner, Keenan Turner and Reginald Turner, all of Water Valley; 22 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
