POPE – Richard L. “R.L.” Milam, 82, died Monday, October 17, 2011, at his granddaughter’s home in Pope.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 29, at 11:30 a.m. Wells Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Berry officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. prior to service. Inurnment will be in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Milam, born Oct. 18, 1928, in Tallahatchie County, was the retired owner of NAPA Auto Parts in Batesville and was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was a member of Pope Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Onkst Milam.
Survivors include: one daughter, Janice M. Mangimelli of Atlanta; one son, Dave Milam of Leeds, Ala.; one sister, Ruby Milam Newton of Enid; one brother, Clyde Milam of Metairie, La. and a brother-in-law, Frank Newton of Enid; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
BATESVILLE – Joyce Marie Sneed, 60, died Sunday, October 23, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held today at 7 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Todd Pittman officiating. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Sneed, born May 28, 1951, in Quitman County, to Buck and Norma Jean Brewer Fortner, was a retired LPN, for Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Monica Jannette Sneed.
Survivors along with her parents, include: her husband, Thomas Sneed of Courtland; one son, Thomas Lee Sneed II of Batesville; two sisters, Linda Logan of Collierville, Tenn., Annette Parker of Batesville; three grandchildren, Forest Levi Sneed, Micah Jake Sneed and Khloe Klaire (BeBe) Sneed.
BATESVILLE – Ira Otis “Odie” Tubbs, 57, died Friday, October 21, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
Services were held Sunday at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Tubbs, born to the late I.O. Tubbs and Connie S. Tubbs, was the office manager for Treasure Loans.
Survivors include: his wife, Nancy Millikin Tubbs of Batesville; two sisters, Mary Ann Towles of Batesville and Becky Ford of Collierville, Tenn.
The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Foundation Fighting Blindness, P.O. Box 17279, Baltimore, Md. 21203-7279.
