With three weeks remaining in the regular season, the North Delta Green  Wave will look to clinch a share of the District 1-AA championship as they host district newcomer Carroll Academy tonight in a 7:30 kickoff.

Carroll enters  tonight’s contest with a 4-4 overall record and 1-1 in district play. The Rebels, who have been out scored 225-198 this season, have recorded wins over Benton Academy (29-22), Kirk (17-6) and Immanuel Christian (27-26).

Carroll’s losses have come against Greenville Washington (49-6), Clarksdale Lee (37-26), Marshall (40-10) and Manchester (37-26).

Senior quarterback Breland Marett will direct the Rebel offense with running backs Hayden Harrell and Payton Banes joining Marett in the backfield. Jeremy Mumme and Anthony Bobbitt are Marett’s top targets at the wide reciever position.

Parker Weems and Steven Winstead anchor the defensive line for the Rebels while Harrell, River Wolfe and Banes lead the linebacking corps.

North Delta meanwhile heads into the contest riding a five-game winning streak after last week’s win over Lee in  which the Green Wave generated 401 yards of total offense while holding the Cougars to a season-low 48 yards.

The offensive line consisting of Kyle Devazier, Carter Gant, Bradley Booth, Hunter Pitcher and Blake Snyder looks to open up running lanes for tailback Taylor Morris and quarterback Tyler Pirtle.

Morris registerd 161 yards and two touchdowns while fellow tailback Hunter Durham added two touchdowns in the second half. Senior wideout Colby Pirtle and tight end Will Magee were both on the recieving end of touchdown passes from Pirtle.

Leading the defensive charge for the Wave will be Bailey Guckert, Colby Pirtle and William Dean in the secondary  while Luke Latham, Magee and Sy Pritchard manning the linebacker spots.
Other district games slated for tonight are Indianola (3-4;0-1) at Kirk (3-5; 0-2) with Marshall having an open date.
