Hays Hudson passed for two touchdowns and ran for another as the South Panola ninth-grade football team eased past Horn Lake 42-0 Monday afternoon.
Houston Boothe caught four passes for 85 yards and was on the receiving end of both touchdown passes from Hudson. Alvin Wiley rushed for 98 yards on 13 carries and a touchown for the Tigers.
Chris Wright intercepted a pass for the South Panola defense that held Horn Lake to three yards of total offense in the game. Josh Shorter registered a fumble recovery.
South Panola got on the board late in the first quarter on Wiley’s 15-yard run. Hudson then connected with Reggie Morris on the two-point conversion to give the Tigers an 8-0 lead.
On the following kickoff, Shorter recovered a fumble on the Eagle one-yard line to set up South Panola’s next score two plays later as Ryan Lee plowed into the end zone from four yards out.
South Panola extended its lead to 20-0 midway through the second quarter on Hudson’s 24-yard pass to Boothe that capped a two-play, 68-yard drive.
The Hudson-to-Boothe connection struck again on an eight-yard touchdown pass with 3:07 left in the first half. John Ellis added the two-point conversion to give South Panola a 28-0 halftime lead.
The Tigers added two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter on Hudson’s one-yard run and Ty Cambell’s seven-yard pass to Gunner Barbee rounded out the scoring.
Ellis followed Wiley in rushing with six carries for 46 yards while Dwayne Brassell added five carries for 20 yards.
Darrell Henderson scored on an one-yard touchdown run with 5:58 remaining in the game to give the South Panola ‘B’ team a 6-0 victory on Horn Lake. Clifton Willingham intercepted a pass to lead the Tiger defense.
South Panola will travel to Lafayette Co. Tuesday for games beginning at 5:30.
