NPJH vs. Coldwater

North Panola Jr. High hosted neighbor Coldwater Thursday and held them scoreless in both seventh and eighth grade games.
The seventh grade Cougars opened the season with a 20-0 win on touchdown runs by Marvin Adams, 53 yards and two touchdowns by Ventravious Sanders of 60 and 10 yards.
The Cougar defense made the Coldwater offense pay. With 1:49 left in the game, Cougar Derrick Small recovered a fumble which led to Sanders’ 10-yard touchdown.
Jecorrious Walls scored the only two-point conversion in three attempts in the first half.
With 2:59 left in the game, Tmarya Russell also recovered a fumble.
8th Grade
The eighth grade Cougars (1-1) lit up the board for a 31-0 victory. Justin Conner struck for three touchdown runs of 45, 64 and 31 yards.
Quarterback Roderick Bobo got the Cougars on the board with a 20-yard run on the first possession with 1:20 left in the first quarter. Bobo finished the scoring on a 61-yard run with 26 seconds left in the game.
The Cougars scored one two-point conversion on a pass from Bobo to Lantern for the 8-0 opening leading.
On defense, Jamall Leverson had three first half sacks and one fumble recovery.
The Cougars will be back in action Thursday at Byhalia at 5:30 p.m.
