M.L. Clark

BATESVILLE – M.L. Clark, 73, died Saturday, July 23, 2011, at his residence.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Power House Church of God in Christ. Leon Gaston will officiate. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary and Saturday from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. at Power House Church of God in Christ in Batesville. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.

Clark, born Feb. 26, 1938, in Batesville, to Sammie Clark and Annie Lee was a mechanic for Heafner Motors and a member of Power House C.O.G.I.C. Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Flora M. Clark of Batesville; two daughters, Annette Clark and Linda Clark, both of Batesville; two sons, Melvin Clark and Fredrick M. Clark, both of Batesville; four sisters, Eddie Lois Clark, Annie Mae Hughery, Mildred Lamberth and Willie Lee Johnson of Detroit, Mich.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Mae Hendrix

BATESVILLE – Dorothy Mae Hendrix, 85, died, Monday, July 25, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Tupelo.

She was born December 9, 1925 in Lafayette County, to Walter Edward Hall and Lovie Mae Weeks Hall.  She loved looking after her family and friends.  

Services were held Wednesday at Dickins Funeral Home. Bro. Hal Johnson officiated.  Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Survivors include: by her son, Robert “Bobby” Hendrix and his wife Becky of Shannon,; her grandchildren, Shannon and Paul Hendrix of Shannon; Jason Williams of Batesville, Janice McCullar and Dottie Boyett of Lambert;  five great-grandchildren, Chris, Ty, Emily, Ashley, and Amber; one brother, Larry Hall and his wife, Ann; four sisters, Audrey Simpson, Flora Cantin, Annie Ruth Criswell  and her husband, Hayden, and Joann Kiihnl  and her husband, Buddy.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, the Late Robert Eugene Hendrix; her daughter, Wanda Kay Williams; her great-grandson, Wesley McCullar.

 Wayne Austin McMullen

SARDIS – Wayne Austin McMullen, 67, died Monday, July, 25, 2011.

Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park. Rev. Gerald Walker will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at 8 a.m. today at Wells Funeral Home.

McMullen, born Sept. 8, 1942, in Memphis, to the late William Austin and Claudia Beatrice Jordan McMullen, was a retired sub-contractor for 48 years.

Survivors include: two sons, Samuel Clint McMullen of Sardis and Jason Wayne McMullen of Guyton, Ga.; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Bobby L. Reed

SENATOBIA – Bobby L. Reed, 77, died Sunday, July 24, 2011, at his residence.

Services were Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Senatobia. Burial was in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge.

He was a veteran serving as a pilot in the Air Force and Marine Corps. He was an avid pilot after his military service. He was a business owner in the grocery industry for 30 years and was associated with the Batesville Piggly Wiggly.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Sanders Reed.

Survivors include: his wife, Charisse Reed of Senatobia; three sons, Timothy Reed, Michael Reed and Mitchell Reed, all of Senatobia; one step-son, Blake Moore of Denver; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
