Dempsey Caldwell Jr.

MEMPHIS – Dempsey Caldwell Jr., 51, formerly of Batesville, died Sunday, June 26, 2011, from injuries received in a car accident.

Services will be held Saturday at noon at World Overcomers Outreach Ministries Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park. Alton R. Williams will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday at M.J. Edwards Funeral Home, 5494 Elvis Presley, Memphis.

Caldwell, born Sept. 29, 1959, in Batesville, to Dempsey Caldwell Sr. and Josie B. Edwards Caldwell, attended South Panola High School and Superior Training Truck Driving School. He played football at South Panola High School.

He was a truck driver and a member of World Overcomers Outreach Ministries.

Survivors include: his wife, Ivy Dodson Caldwell of Memphis; two daughters, Fatina Caldwell of Memphis and Melinda Powell of Chicago; three sisters, Ruby Caldwell Dunlap of Memphis, Shirley Caldwell Jones of Crenshaw and Mary Caldwell of Dallas; five brothers, Tony Caldwell and Vernon Caldwell, both of Batesville, David Caldwell and Bobby Caldwell, both of Sunflower and Jim Caldwell of Milwaukee; two sisters, Thelma Eppenger of Sledge and Martha Fay Still of Sardis; one brother, Edward Still of Memphis and three grandchildren.

Emmett Cook

BATESVILLE – Emmett Cook Sr., 72, died Monday, June 27, 2011, at his residence.

Services were Wednesday at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial was in Longtown Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arline Mary Cook.

Survivors include: one son, Emmett Cook Jr. of Crenshaw; one sister, Patricia Ann Cook of Grenada; two brothers, Hubert Doyle Cook of Pickens and Sidney Ray Cook of Cleveland and one grandson.

Cody Lee Emery Frazier

BATESVILLE – Cody Lee Emery Frazier, 16, died Friday, June 24, 2011, in an automobile accident in Pope.

Graveside services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Marks Cemetery. Rev. Roger Howell will officiate. Kimbro Funeral Home has charge.

Frazier was born in Clarksdale on May 28, 1995.

Survivors include: his father, Anthony Fraizer of Clarksdale; his mother, Teresa Emery of Clarksdale; his step-father, Daniel Weldon; his grandparents, Dorothy Frazier of Clarksdale and Paul and Gaynell Emery of Batesville; and two sisters, Anna Ashcraft of Senatobia and Christian Frazier of Southaven.

Cleveland Junior Reed

COURTLAND – Cleveland Junior Reed, 56, died Tuesday, June 28, at Tallahatchie Central Hospital.

Services will be held Tuesday, July 5 at 11 a.m. at Batesville Junior High School. Pastor Reginald Reed will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Reed, born Sept. 20, 1954, in Batesville, to Loyd Reed and Clarine Reed, attended Patton Lane School. He was a custodian at Batesville Junior High School.

Survivors include: two sons, Cleveland Reed Jr. and Cedric Reed, both of Lambert; two daughters, LaToya Market of Lambert, Shakina Jones of Flora; and two brothers, David Reed of Flora and James Edward Reed of Lambert.
