Royals down A’s for shot at championship

In the American Legion tournament Monday night, the first place team Royals took on the fourth place team A’s to determine who would advance to the championship game last night against the Yankees.

The Royals took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Pez McGee and Tyler Babb scored after they both drew walks.

The A’s tied the game in top of the second when third baseman Ethan Calvert and catcher Austin Epps crossed home plate.

The Royals’ bats were on fire in bottom of the frame when they added four runs giving them a 6-2 lead over the A’s. Scoring was Javan Presley, Hunter Darby, Landon Fullilove and Babb.

In the top of the third the A’s were limited to only one run by shortstop Will Daughtery.

The Royals continued to dominate the game by scoring four runs by Presley, Owens, McGee and Darby, in the bottom of the frame for the 10-3 lead.        

A’s center fielder Ty Campbell scored the last run for his team in the bottom of the fourth but it was not enough as the Royals walked away with the victory.
