South Panola senior shortstop Chris Townsend is spending his summer playing for the Midwest Nationals baseball team of Springfield, Mo.

The team is 13-0 on the season and has been playing since May 26.

Towsend has 10 runs on 29 hits so far in 11 games.

He has two doubles, seven walks and six stolen bases.

He was chosen the offensive MVP of the district this past season and started the season as an Armor-All preseason All-American shortstop.

The play Thursday through Sunday and the games may be accessed at www.springfieldwebtv.com.

This weekend the team will play the University of Missouri.

He is the son of Rev. Chris and Minister Nyanthia Townsend of Batesville. They make the trip each weekend to see their son play.
