NDJH girls win back-to-back district championships

Since joining the Academy AA ranks last season, the North Delta junior high girls basketball team has become almost unbeatable. For the second straight year, the Lady Green Wave have captured the District 1-AA championship by defeating Kirk 32-23 Saturday afternoon at Indianola Academy.

North Delta finishes the season with a 25-1 record and has compiled a 70-5 record over the past three seasons.

North Delta reached the title game by blasting Marshall 31-12 in the semi-final round Thursday. Erin Snider led the way with 10 points while Claire Gant added seven followed by Hastings Neal with six and Callie Blake Masterson with five. Snider and Neal recorded 11 points each in the win over Kirk.

Team members include freshmen: Julianna Morrow, Snider, Neal, Masterson, Gant, Jordan Pullen, Peyton Rico, Mary Lynn Lewis, Courtney DuBravec, Amy Walker, Lillian Weldon and Madison Atkinson.

Eighth graders: Anna Lloyd, Shelby Province, Hannah Heafner and Kaleigh Livingston.

Seventh grade: Sarah Toole, Ginger Stephens, Myles Durham, Haley Lamm, Jenny White, Maddie Sullivant, Madison McBride, Liz Roarke and Megan Gee.
