Batesville Police Detective Captain Paul Shivers has recovered video surveillance of the suspect in purse thefts from cars parked near the Batesville Presbyterian Church on Sunday.

Shivers said that the incidents occurred around 10:19 a.m. Sunday. A bystander chased the suspect but lost him behind the First Security Bank’s Trust Department offices in the old Shoppers Square.

The bank’s video surveillance cameras picked up the image of the suspect as he walked around to the front of the center where Phil Webb’s Office Supply is located. He entered a Chevrolet or GMC pickup with chrome bed siderails and drove away.
