Nancy Crystelle Allen Mitchell
SARDIS– Nancy Crystelle Allen Mitchell, 87, died Friday, July 30, 2010, at Regional Medical Center in Anniston, Ala.
Services were Tuesday, August 3 at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial was in Forest Memorial Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Mitchell, born Jan. 12, 1923, in Slate Springs, to the late W. Elmer and Alma Skelton Allen, was a charter member of Pope Woman’s Club and a member of Pope Board of Alderman and a member of Pope Baptist Church. She was a retired sales clerk for Fred’s Department Store
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Deward Mitchell.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Ruth Mitchell of Anniston, Ala.; two sons, Deward “Butch” Mitchell of Batesville, and Ragon Allen Mitchell of Stendal, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or the donor’s choice.
Tommy L. Spencer
COMO– Tommy L. Spencer, 57, died Monday, August 16, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.
Graveside services were held Thursday at Free Springs United Methodist Cemetery. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge.
He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Spencer.
Survivors include: two sons, Randal F. Spencer of Charleston, Mo. and Tony Taylor of Como; his mother, Lillian O. Spencer of Como; one sister, Patricia Griffin of Como; two brothers, David Spencer of Austin, Texas and Keith Spencer of Como and three grandchildren.
Everia Bishop Thomas
COURTLAND– Everia Bishop Thomas, 87, died Friday, August 13, 2010, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel. Minister Irving Bishop and Pastor Ozine Thomas will officiate. Visitation will be today 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Burial will be in Viney Creek Cemetery.Thomas, born June 16, 1924, to the late Standford Thomas and Caroline Watson, was a homemaker and a member of Viney Creek M.B. Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include: five daughters, Thressa Leland, Mable B. Brisco, Bernice McKinney, Linda Thomas, Faye Thomas, all of Sardis; five sons, John Bishop of Courtland, Gene Bishop, Jimmy “Jim Bo” Bishop, Charles Bishop and Tommie Bishop, all of Sardis; one sister, Mattie Ree Thomas of Courtland; 38 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
OXFORD– Taylor Nicole Willard, 16, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center.
Services were Sunday at Sardis Church of Christ with Hal Johnson officiating. Burial was in Forest Memorial Park. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Survivors include: her parents, Art and Billie Pool and Jason and Amber Willard; two sisters, Danielle Willard and Isabella Evans; one brother, Cameron Willard all of Oxford; her grandparents, Vince and Cathy Pool of Batesville, Robbie Frazier of Holly Springs, Jimmy and Shelia Willard of Water Valley and Nina McGregor of Batesville.
