Former South Panola baseball player and current assistant baseball coach Brad Lightsey was honored as he was named to the Gulf South Conference West All-Decade Team.

The team was announced July 23 and Lightsey’s name appeared on the first team squad as pitcher. Delta State had 11 players named to the team and Lightsey’s former coach Mike Kinnison was voted coach of the decade.

Lightsey was at Delta State from 2001-05 but redshirted in 2001.

Of the award, Lightsey said he  had “no clue.”

“My granddad saw it in the paper and brought me a copy,” he said. “It’s pretty nice. I was proud.”
