Motorcycle wreck claims life at Enid

Funeral services are today for a retired City of Batesville employee who passed away Sunday in Yalobusha County.  

Randall Lee Collins died in a motorcycle accident on County Road 36 near the Enid Lake levee. He was 53.

Yalobusha County Coroner Ronnie Stark said Collins collided with a Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene, Stark said.

Visitation was set for noon today at Batesville Church of Christ, where Collins was a member. The funeral service is at 2 p.m. with burial at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope.

Collins was serving as street superintendent under former mayor Bobby Baker when he retired from city government. He began work in 1990 and retired in 2003.

He is survived by wife Jan Pepper Collins, two daughters and a son, and three grandchildren.
