BJH Jamboree

Batesville Jr. High seventh grade will host a football jamboree Thursday, April 15 starting at 5 p.m. on the South Panola Tiger field. Six teams will participate including Pope, Water Valley, Lafayette, Olive Branch, Charleston and Batesville. Admission is $5.

Caring for Kids Golf Tourney

The ninth annual “Caring For Kids” golf tournament will be held at the Panola Country Club golf course on Saturday, May 22.

Starting time is 8 a.m., scramble with Mulligans.

The Batesville Exchange Club sponsors the event each year for its Prevention of Child Abuse project.

Full sponsorship is $500/team of four, $250/half team and individual, $125.

Townsend camp

Deshea Townsend announced Wednesday his 11th Annual Pay It Forward Football Camp will be held Saturday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The South Panola football field will be the setting for the camp which has hosted thousands of children the past 10 years.

The NFL star played for the South Panola Tigers, helping lead the team to a state championship in 1994.

The camp is for children in grades 1-12.

In addition to the camp, a community health fair will be held at the Batesville Middle School. Health screenings will be available.

A new addition this year will be a Boot Camp for adults 18 years and older. A one-hour workout session will be from 10 to 11 a.m.

Registration forms are available now at the Boys and Girls Club, 630 Highway 51 South, Batesville and at The Panolian, 363 Highway 51 North, Batesville.
