The North Delta Green Wave baseball team improved to 3-1 on the season by picking up a pair of wins in the J. Z. George tournament Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Renic Greenlee picked up his first varsity pitching victory as the Green Wave downed Carroll Academy 4-2 in the opening game. Both teams recorded five hits each.
In the second game of the day, North Delta exploded for a six-run second inning in route to a 9-3 victory over J. Z. George. Ethan Waldrip picked up the win on the mound to improve his record to 1-0 on the year. Geri Lamm and Bailey Guckert led the Green Wave offensively with two hits each. Derrick Shawn doubled while Ethan Taylor added a homerun as North Delta collected nines hits in the game.
The Green Wave opened up District 1-2A play last night against Indianola and will host Lee Academy today starting at 4 p.m. with varsity action followed by the junior varsity. North Delta will travel to Indianola tomorrow for a 4 p.m. doubleheader.
