 Genevie Buckner Burnett

BATESVILLE– Genevie Buckner Burnett, 87, died Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services were Sunday at Dickins Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Batesville Magnolia Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Burnett, born Oct. 6, 1922, to the late Joseph Buckner and Emily Flatt Buckner, was a retired factory worker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Burnett; two sons, Larry and Jimmy Jackson.

Survivors include: one daughter, Lynn Gordon of Batesville; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.Memorials may be sent to Batesville Magnolia Cemetery – P.O. Box 302 Batesville, Miss. 38606

Patricia Taylor Pomlee

BATESVILLE– Patricia Taylor Pomlee, 46, died Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services were Sunday at Cooley’s Mortuary. Rev. Melvin Ellis officiated. Burial was in Batesville Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.

Pomlee, born May 17, 1963, to Jessie Lee Taylor and Amanda Hooks Taylor, was a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church.

Survivors include: one daughter, Kelsey Pomlee of Batesville; one son, Isaac Taylor of Batesville; three sisters, Brenda Taylor Thomas, Darlene Taylor, both of Batesville and Geneva Taylor of Minneapolis; one step-sister, Permelia Miller of Maben; four brothers, Jessie Lee Taylor Jr., Matthew Taylor, Thomas Taylor, all of Batesville and Anthony Glenn Hooks of Plano, Texas and one grandchild.

Betty Lee Benson Thompson

BATESVILLE– Betty Lee Benson Thompson, 68, died Friday, January 22, 2010.

Services will be held Thursdayat 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion M.B. Church. Houston Potts Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Batesville Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary.

Thompson, born Nov. 11, 1941, in Batesville, to the late Luster Benson Jr. and Julia Ann Flowers, was a member  of New Life Deliverance Temple Church.

Survivors include: three sons, Donell Benson, Drexel Benson and Makolm Benson, all of Batesville; four sisters, Rosie Benson Turner of Batesville, Gracy Miles, Rosie Diggs and Mary Ladd, all of Pope; six brothers, Luster Benson, Jim Benson, Willie B. Benson, L.B. Benson, Willie L. Benson and Joe Benson, all of Pope and four grandchildren.

Mickey Clois Yarbrough

HERNANDO– Mickey Clois Yarbrough, 67, died Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

No services will be held. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Yarbrough, born Dec. 18, 1942, to the late Neiley Woodrow Yarbrough and Nell Hildred Green Warren, retired from Whirlpool and completed his associates degree at Northwest Mississippi Community College.

Survivors include: two sisters, Brenda C. Solimine of Southaven and Sandra K. Walpole of Hernando.
