Five year ago, North Delta picked up Linsey Hebert as a transplant after Hurricane Katrina went through her home in Louisiana. They decided to stay and Monday morning Hebert signed a national letter of intent to play fastpitch softball at Northwest Community College.

“Katrina was bad but brought something good to our school,” North Delta headmaster John Howell Jr. said.

She has been instrumental in helping the North Delta fastpitch team make it to the state tournament round as shortstop and one of the leading hitters on the team.

She said this was something she always wanted since she started playing.

“I’m so happy. I can’t really explain it,” Hebert said.
