Due to the storms that moved through the southern region, some football games were rescheduled from Friday night. The game between North Panola and Byhalia is rescheduled to be played tonight at 6 p.m. in Byhalia.
Other games were played Saturday, like North Delta and Kirk, or last night.
“I don’t know why we didn’t play Saturday or Monday,” Cougar head coach Clifton Davis Jr. said. “At first Byhalia wanted to cancel.”
A call to Davis mid-Friday morning informed the reporter the game was still on for the night.
“I have not heard from Byhalia,” Davis said. “We were getting on the bus to leave and the principal and coach of Byhalia called us and said the game was off for the night.”
If Byhalia had not rescheduled the game, it would have gone down as a forfeit. Going into this final game of the season both teams are 1-4 in the district and out of playoff contention.
The North Panola/Byhalia game on The Panolian football contest will be a free spot for all this week.
Some schools will have a short week as they played last night and have to turn around and play a playoff game Friday night. For example, District 2-4A champion Lafayette County is waiting to see who it play from the Amanda Elzy/Humphreys County game that was played last night.
