With three  weeks  remaining in the regular season, the North Delta Green Wave will look to get back into the thick of the District 1-2A playoff race tonight as they travel to West Memphis, Ark. in a 7:30 kickoff.

North Delta (4-2; 1-1) comes into tonight’s clash fresh off a 40-6 thumping of Marvell, Ark. at home last Friday. West Memphis, (0-6; 0-2) meanwhile will be looking for its first victory of the season after falling to Desoto, Ark. 30-6 last week.

The Black Knights’ losses  have been at the hands of Marvell, 33-8, Lee, Ark. 30-8, Hebron Christian (35-30), Kirk (27-0) and Indianola (35-0). West Memphis is led on offense by quarterback Jacob Chong and wide receiver Spencer Scarbrough (6’1”; 185).

Running back Peyton Pugh (5’11”; 175) leads the team with three rushing touchdowns while Drake Holt (5’10”; 155) will hold down the other running back spot.

North Delta’s Bryan Nickle will be looking to have a repeat performance of last week’s game against Marvell. The junior running back/ defensive back ran for three touchdowns and reeled in a 46-yard scoring  strike from quarterback Derick Shawn. Nickle rushed for 90 yards while catching seven passes for 115 yards. He also intercepted a pass on defense.

Sophomore Chris Rodgers added 87 yards on 16 carries and scored his third rushing touchdown of the year with a one-yard plunge in the first quarter.

The Green Wave defense meanwhile will look to keep its 11-quarter scoreless streak going tonight. North Delta is giving up 10 points per game and has not allowed a touchdown since a 12-7 victory over Indianola on Sept. 11

Defensive ends Sy Pitchard and senior Carson Bailey along with Coner Ferguson and Will Reynolds lead the North Delta front four.  Senior linebackers Ray Tucker and John Paul Keel round out front six.

West Memphis  knocked  the Green Waves out of a playoff spot with a 14-7 victory last season when both teams competed in District 1-1A.
