The long-running fund-raiser is one of two annual Exchange Club events in Panola County that raise money for child abuse prevention.

The pancake breakfast is one of two local fund-raisers that will be held Saturday. A yard sale from 6 a.m. until noon will raise money for the Boys and Girls Club.

The Boys and Girls fund-raiser will be held at the main First Security Bank branch, located at Highway 6 and Eureka Street in Batesville.

The cash-strapped club is seeking funds to continue its service to 225 youths in Batesville, Sardis and Crenshaw.

Across Mississippi, state funding for Boys and Girls clubs has dwindled due to budget cuts.

Proceeds from the pancake breakfast go to the Mississippi Exchange Club Family Center, located in Oxford.

The center teaches parenting and marriage courses, and a fatherhood initiative.

A breakfast plate costs $4 and includes pancakes and sausage, and coffee, milk or orange juice.

Batesville Intermediate is located at 200 College Street, north of the Downtown Square.

Enjoying a pancake breakfast, and browsing for bargains, should happen under pleasant skies Saturday.

Highs in the 70s are predicted for Saturday and Sunday.

A 20 percent chance of precipitation, and a few cloudy skies, is forecast for Sunday.
