Brown pitches slowpitch no-hitter

South Panola’s Christa Brown pulled off a rare feat  as the sophomore tossed a no-hitter as the Tigers blanked Rosa Fort 16-0 in high school slowpitch softball action Tuesday afternoon at Tiger Park.

The Tigers scored in every inning while taking advantage of 12 Rosa Fort walks while collecting eight hits along the way as the game was called after four innings due to the 15-run rule.

South Panola scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning as Brown led off with a walk followed by a triple by Amanda Ivy and Meri Morgan

Fortune then chased Ivy home with a single up the middle. After a Merideth Robertson walk, Mary Beth Hayes slapped a two-run single to drive in

Fortune and Robertson for a 4-0 lead.

The Tigers added five more runs on four hits in the second as Chelsea Allen and Carissa McDaniel led off the inning with a double and triple. Paige

Jordan supplied a key hit in the inning by blasting a two-RBI double that scored Robertson and Fortune.

South Panola ended the game in the bottom of the fourth by scoring five runs on five walks and one hit. McDaniel and Fortune registered two hits each while Madison Taylor scored a pair of runs.

The Lady Tigers will be back at home Tuesday against Marks Palmer starting a 4 p.m.
