Eugene “Buddy” Austin

BATESVILLE– Eugene “Buddy” Austin, 70, died Thursday, July 16, 2009, at his residence.

Services  will be held today at 2 p.m. at Second Concord M.B. Church. Rev. F.C. Kelson will officiate. Visitation will be held 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. at Second Concord M.B. Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Austin, born June 18, 1939, in Batesville to the late Melvin Austin and Lizzie Barr, was a construction worker and a member of Second Concord M.B. Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Bobbie Austin of Batesville; five daughters, Patricia Harrison, Linda Austin, Sturleen Hoskins, Marylon Ales and Amy Austin, all of Batesville; one son, Joe Burgess of Batesville; six sisters, Jeanette Johnson of Oxford, Pauline Cross, Dicie James, Fannie Wilbourn, Virginia Lincoln and Virgie Marsh, all of Milwaukee, Wis.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Earline Walls Johnson

 CHICAGO– Earline Walls Johnson, 77, formerly of Batesville, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at her residence.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at West Camp M.B. Church. Rev. Eugene Brown will officiate. Burial will be in West Camp Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Johnson, born Aug. 28, 1931,  to the late Freeman Walls and Louise Kuykendall Walls, was a machine operator.

Survivors include: two daughters, Seffie Ballenter and Cherry Johnson, both of Chicago; one son, Michael Johnson of Chicago; five sisters, Bertha Ware and Lydia Booker, both of Batesville, Betty Lee of Denton, Texas, Queen E. Jackson of Newburg, N.Y. and Bee B. Brooks of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Andrew Freeman Walls of Courtland and Paul Walls of Oakland, Calif.; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Doris Clark Luna

SARDIS– Doris Clark Luna, 90, died Friday, July 17, 2009, at Sardis Community Nursing Home.

Services were Monday at Sardis Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Rev. Charles Langford officiated. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home had charge.

Luna, born March 30, 1919, to the late Luther Clinton Clark and Lucille Lillian Ross Clark, was a homemaker and a member of Sardis Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Memphis State College in 1941.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy E. Luna.

She is survived by one daughter, Terry Pegram of Sardis.

James Edward Warner

 

SHELBY– James Edward Warner, 80, died Sunday, July 12, 2009, at Bolivar Medical Center. He was the father of Linda Hollowell of Crowder.

Services were held Wednesday, July 15 at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks. Burial was in Crowder Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Water, born Sept. 9, 1928, was a member of Crowder Baptist Church. He was a retired auto mechanic.

Survivors along with his daughter include: one daughter, Judy Macknally of Lambert; one sister, Dorothy Snow of Memphis; one sister, Dorothy Snow of Memphis; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Crowder Baptist Church.
