Weekend jammed with sports

A busy weekend is lined up in the sports.

As the school year is winding to a close, spring games and jamborees were closing out spring practices.

North Delta and South Panola closed out their spring with games last night.

Tomorrow afternoon, North Panola will host a jamboree with Clarksdale, Amanda Elzy and Grenada beginning at noon.

J.P. Hudson Park will hold its league tournament and all teams will play starting at 9 a.m.

At 9 a.m., the 10th annual Deshea Townsend Pay It Forward Camp kicks off. This year a health fair and a blood drive have been added to the event.

Though the afternoon events do not fall under sports, Townsend is partly sponsoring the annual Celebrity Car Show at the Batesville Civic Center.

Before the car show at 4 p.m., Johnny Jones and Next Level Enterprises, LLC, along with Townsend, will host a high school step show to build on last year’s step show.

Entry fee for the team is $50. Grand prize is $500.

Children 12 and under are admitted free to car show and step show.

Adults 13 and over admission is $10.

For more information on the step show or to enter, call Keshia Ford at (662) 609-3444.
