Ashby Letter

To the editor:

I am old enough to remember when a good sharecropper was the upper middle class. I can remember when an 80-acre farmer was not in trouble. He grew his veggies, raised his meat, eggs, lard and corn meal and had a little cash to buy the few staples he needed to survive.

The dream of our new president-elect may soon turn to a nightmare. Three to five percent of the people in this country are not going to pay for the other 95 + percent. They will simply shut down and see all but them on their hands and knees.

Socialism don’t work and neither does communism. For many people in this country are looking for a handout when there is no labor there will be soon not be a labor union. How many people does the union hire? Where is that money coming from?

Common sense, which is no longer a common trait, can tell you that we are all in this together and for five generations this problem has been coming – people are fat on pork chops they didn’t work for.

The Obama story is already in trouble and will never recover on the something for nothing he is promising.

The five percent he is promising to make pay for all of this are the people who hold the salutation to the promise he is trying to fix.

The Great Society of  Johnson didn’t work and neither is the Great Society of Obama going to work. Every so often we are brought back to reality only to be buried away again by another Obama.

Dreamers, like the carnival man or the person who goes to Tunica to get rich, all see better when  they are broke. You are wanted in church all the time but at the carnival or Tunica when you have money. The difference is not you but the money.

The craving of it is the root of evil. It will always be here, it will never change. So dream on, dreamer.  You are on the road to somewhere, Hell.

Ephesians 5:15-20: You won’t read it, so I will write it out:

“So be careful how you live, not as fools, but as those who are wise.

“Make the most of every opportunity for doing good in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but try to understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don’t be drunk with wine because this will ruin your life. Instead let the Holy Spirit fill and control you.

“Then you will sing Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, making music to the Lord Jesus Christ.”

I don’t remember seeing Obama or the Clintons mentioned. It says we should give thanks to God, The Father for everything. I believe this. Do you?

Psalms 46-1: “I have been blessed so much.
