The Tigers will face the Wildcats from Meridian. Kick-off is 7 p.m.

For the past five years, the Tigers have brought home the victor’s trophy.

In two previous years, 1993 and 1998, South Panola also claimed the 5-A state championship.

The Panolian today includes a special tabloid section devoted to the team’s unprecedented record and quest for an eighth state championship. The section includes a pull-out banner for fans to display as they travel to Jackson.

The Tigers, who defeated Madison Central last Friday night to claim the 5-A North Half Championship, will play 5-A South Half champs Meridian High School tonight at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on Mississippi ETV and can be picked up locally on channel 18.

If the Tigers win tonight, they will advance their winning streak to 90 games, the longest active run in the country.
