A massive search for an elderly couple was called off Tuesday afternoon when authorities learned the couple had reached their destination.

Authorities were searching for a silver Ford Taurus with Arkansas plates driven by Benny Brooks, 70. His wife, Viola Brooks, 75, is the passenger.

Sheriff’s investigator Mark Whitten called off the search Tuesday at 1:30 after learning that the couple turned up in Philadelphia, sources familiar with the search said.

The couple was following their daughter when they exited Interstate 55 at the Como exit, said Panola Chief Deputy Otis Griffin. A tractor-trailer got between the couple and the daughter, he said.
