ND goes for upset

By Brad Greer

The North Delta Green Wave will look to extend their winning streak to three games as they travel to Holly Springs tonight to take on Marshall Academy for a 7:30 kickoff.

After starting the season with a pair of losses, the Wave has looked impressive in victories over Lee, (Ark.) and Benton Academy. Marshall meanwhile comes into the contest with an identical 2-2 record. The Patriots have wins against Lee, (Ark) 40-22 and Indianola (27-7) while falling to Kirk (20-0) and Magnolia Heights (36-6). Last season, Marshall defeated North Delta 41-20 in route to the Class AA state championship game where they lost to Centreville Academy.

The Patriots are led by quarterback Hank Owens ( 5’10” 165) and wide receiver Tyler Childers (5’11” 170). Owens rushed for a pair of touchdowns and threw for another in last week’s win over Indianola. Childers meanwhile has been on the receiving end of three touchdowns on the year from Owens.

North Delta  running back Tres Brasell has been a thorn in the side of opposing defenses. So far this season the sophomore has rushed for 301 yards and three touchdowns including his 139-yard performance in last Friday’s 21-11 win over Benton.
