ND falls to Strider; SP splits with Louisville and Meridian
North Delta

North Delta welcomed Strider Academy to open the 2008 football season, but fell to the Rams 14-12.

North Delta scored first on a Tres Brasell four-yard run in the first quarter but the extra point kick failed. Strider tied the game following a Green Wave fumble on the seven-yard line. Strider scored on a two-yard run and missed the two-point conversion to tie the game at six.

Geri Lamm broke a 60-yard run to his left in the second quarter to take back the lead but the two-point conversion failed. North Delta led 12-6. Strider again answered with a touchdown, but this time the two-point conversion was good for the go-ahead 14-12 lead going into halftime.

Neither team would score in the second half and the Rams claim bragging rights.

North Delta had 243 total yards, 11 first downs, five turnovers and was penalized 10 times for 80 yards.

Geri Lamm had 14 carries for 119 yards and a touchdown. Brasell had 11 carries for 74 yards and a touchdown.

Strider had a total of 108 yards, three first downs, two turnovers and was penalized five times for 46 yards.

The Green Wave will be on the road to Desoto, Ark. next Friday for district action.

South Panola

South Panola participated in the Louisville jamboree Friday night. The Tigers downed Louisville 20-7, but fell to Meridian 14-0. The starters only played the first five minutes of the Meridian game and then the younger players took over.

Nick Parker and Domonique Carothers were the big run contributors in the games.
