Memorial Day

The Veterans of Foreign Wars will host a Memorial Day program at the Downtown Memorial Park in Batesville on Monday at 11 a.m.
Robert Rawson, pastor of Batesville Church of Christ, will speak.
Memorial Day is held on the last Monday in May to honor U.S. men and women who have died in military service for their country.
The federal holiday was started to honor soldiers who died in the Civil War.
All city and county offices will be closed Monday in celebration of Memorial Day.
Garbage pick-up in the City of Batesville and in the county will run a day behind, said a spokesman with the County Administrator’s office.
In Sardis, trash pick-up will take place on Tuesday instead of Monday, and Thursday, next week.
