Mary Holmes Bishop

BATESVILLE- Mary Holmes Bishop, 77, died Thursday, May 10, 2007 at her residence of heart failure.

Services will be held Saturday, May 12, at 2 p.m. at Sardis Lake Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Daisy Fondren

BATESVILLE – Daisy Fondren, 89, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 13, at noon at Macedonia M.B. Church with Rev. Zannie Leland Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Cooley’s Mortuary Inc. has charge of arrangements.

Ketrick Kendell Ford

DETROIT, MICH. – Ketrick Kendall Ford, 23, died Monday, May 7, 2007 at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 14 at 11 a.m. at Salem M.B. Church in Courtland with Rev. Larry Itson officiating. Burial will follow in the Eureka Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge of arrangements.

He is the son of Kevin Cooper of Detroit and Diana Ford Rudd of Batesville.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. with family hour from 6 to 7 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary.

Elsie Marie Geeslin Hadorn

Elsie Marie Geeslin Hadorn, 72, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Baptist East Memorial Hospital in Memphis.  

Services are today 2:00 p.m. at Cold Springs United Methodist Church in Sardis. Burial will be in Cold Springs Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.

She was preceded in death by: one brother, Calvin W. Geeslin Jr. and two sisters, Lelia Wolf and Robbie Hadorn

Hadorn, born May 30, 1934, to the late Calvin W. Geeslin Sr. and the late Nancy Lee Roberts Geeslin, was a homemaker.

  Survivors include: her husband James Hadorn of Batesville; three sons, Jimmy Hadorn and Bobby Hadorn, both of Batesville and Frank Hadorn of Fulton; two daughters, Mildred Kassis of Fresno, Calif. and Linda McClure of Olive Branch and two grandchildren.

 William Nathan Hays

SARDIS–-William Nathan Hays, 94, died Sunday, May 6, 2007, at the Como United Methodist Church.

Services were Thursday at the Sardis United Methodist Church. Reverends Claud Fleming and Jim Cox officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Moore-Nowell Funeral Home had charge.

Hays, born March 18, 1913, to the late William John and the late Grace Carlton Hays, was a long-time farmer in the Mississippi Delta and was a member of the Sardis United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Board of Trustees.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Nathan Taylor Hays and grandson Spencer Thomas.

Survivors include: his wife, Myrtle Taylor Hays; one son, David Hays and wife Jeanette of Sardis; three daughters, Frances Thomas-Dillender and husband Sam of Winston-Salem, Mary Lipscomb and husband Bobby of Como and Evelyn Gordon and husband Curtis of Birmingham; grandchildren, Nathan Thomas, J.T. Magellan and wife Yoko, Greg Hays, Catherine Rowsey and husband Perrin, John Mark Hays, Hays Lipscomb and wife April, Lee Wright and husband Major, David Gordon and wife Rachel and Jonathan Gordon; great-grandchildren are Seth and SaraGrace Thomas, Emily, Rebecca and Mary Paige Rowsey; Levi and Kane Lipscomb, Law and Hays Wright and Sarah  and  Emma Gordon.

Memorials may be made to the Sardis United Methodist Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

T.J. Tanksley

CRENSHAW – T.J. Tanksley, 66, died Sunday, May 6, 2007.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12, at 12 p.m. at St. Joseph M.B. Church in Crenshaw. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Don Reed Tucker

SARDIS–-Don Reed Tucker, 59, died Sunday, May 6, 2007, at Golden Living Center.

Graveside services were Wednesday at Shiloh Cemetery in Courtland. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Tucker was born April 23, 1948, to the late Audie E. and Vera Alice Newton Tucker.

Survivors include: two sisters, Edith Elizabeth Avery and Earlene Scruggs, both of Batesville and one brother, Norwood Tucker of Crete, Ill.

Eone Virgil

SENATOBIA – Eone Virgil, 80, died Thursday, May 10 at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12 at 1 p.m. at New Ford M.B. Church in Senatobia. Burial will follow in the Macedonia M.B. Church cemetery in Batesville. Felix Cauthen Funeeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Rosie McCray Williams

LAMBERT- Rosie McCray Williams, 60, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital of heart failure.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 13, at 3 p.m. at  Sykes Chapel M.B. Church with Rev. Lloyd Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Delta Burial Corporation has charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Saturday, May 12 at Delta Burial Corporation from 6 to 7 p.m.
