County teams split 8th grade games

One close game and one not so close contest highlighted the Batesville and North Panola 8th grade basketball games last week as both teams earned a split.
Jakeen Bowdery scored 15 points while Xadrian Brown added 14 as the North Panola Cougars slipped past Batesville 41-37 in boys action.
Jamarien Mays and Jaquinton Miller provided four while Den’quarryious Robinson and Ken’zarious Oliver chipped in with two apiece.
Coya Ford paced Batesville with 13 points while David Hubbard and Jayden Smith registered seven. Devonta Clay followed with four as Brayden Martin and De’Marian Hoskins finished with three points.
The girls tilt was not nearly competitive as the Lady Tigers eased past North Panola 40-17. Brianna McCarty led the way with 11 points while Jade Wilson and Gracie Harbour garnered five each.
Other scorers included Alexus Hamilton, Makiyah Barksdale, Destiney Smith and Jakelseyah Flowers all added four. Kamiyha Griffin finished with three points.
Jykeria Black garnered nine points for the Lady Cougars. Constance Burnette added four with Tyrah Jones and Jakeria Patterson finished with two points each.
