SP 9th grade season ends in loss

The South Panola 9th grade football team concluded their season with a 12-0 loss to Oxford Monday night at Robert H. Dunlap Stadium.
After battling to a scoreless tie in the first half, Oxford got on the board with 1:58 left in the third quarter on a 15-yard pass reception. The Chargers added its final points in the fourth quarter on a 38-yard fumble return.
South Panola reached the Chargers 37-yard line on its opening possession but turned the ball over on downs.
Teo Collins led South Panola in rushing with six carries for 38 yards. Terrance Clark followed with four carries for five yards. Quarterback Bo Williams completed 3-of-11 passes for 20 yards.
Ricky Farmer caught two passes for 11 yards while Cartavious Reed had one reception for nine yards.
SPJV 20, Oxford 0
The South Panola Junior Varsity completed an undefeated season with a 20-0 win over the Chargers.
Derrick Cunningham rushed for 87 yards on four carries including a 49-yard scoring run in the second half to pace the Tigers to victory. Quin Bradford added nine carries for 26 yards and a one-yard touchdown run to stake South Panola to a 6-0 lead.
The Tigers took a 12-0 lead at the halftime break when quarterback Kanoda Lewis connected with Montray Blackburn on a 40-yard scoring reception with 1:29 remaining before halftime.
Blackburn reeled in two passes for 48 yards while Jameel Thompson added one catch for 34 yards. Tyrus Bradford registered 15 yards on three carries.
Quin Bradford had a fumble recovery and Wade Thornton contributed with a quarterback sack for the South Panola defense.
