The No. 5 Maxpreps ranked South Panola Lady Tigers took care of non-conference business against the Southaven Lady Chargers, 6-0, Tuesday afternoon.
The teams met on Morris Hunter Field where the game started as a pitcher’s duel. By the top of the third, the Lady Tigers (11-2 overall, 3-0 district) had figured out how to hit Southaven (8-5 overall, 1-1 district) pitcher Saige Koczka.
Chloe Morgan, who singled to get on base, scored on a Mallory Meyers single for the first score. Meyers came home on a Caroline Dickins double to right center.
Dickins picked up the win pitching the two-hitter complete game in seven innings, striking out 10 of 22 batters faced and walking one.
In top of the fifth, the Lady Tigers scored two more runs. Sydney Morgan doubled to right and came home on a fielding error by Southaven. Amber Helmes reached first on that same error and scored on a passed ball.
Errors plagued Southaven in that quarter allowing the Lady Tigers to run the basepath.
In top of the sixth, the Lady Tigers scored another two insurance runs. Alli Cummins singled and courtesy runners Nautica Edwards and Madison Morgan scored on a two RBI (run batted in) single by Sydney Morgan. Morgan ran for catcher Rebekah Garner who bunted and beat out the throw to first.
The defense for the Lady Tigers was stellar. Southaven only got a runner on base in the first on a walk and a single in bottom of the fourth and seventh.
Leading at the plate for the Lady Tigers were Chloe Morgan and Meyers, who both went 2-for-4 with one run each. Meyers had an RBI.
Also hitting were Sydney Morgan, 2-for-3, one double, one run; Dickins, 1-for-4,  a double, one RBI; Haley Reid, Cummins and Garner, 1-for-4 each; and Helmes, 1-for-3, one RBI, one run.
