SP 9th boys win season opener

The South Panola Tigers ninth grade basketball team won their season opener 29-17 at Lake Cormorant Tuesday.

The Tigers won from the free throw line shooting 78 percent. South Panola took a 9-3 lead in the first quarter. In the second quarter both teams added three points as the Tigers took a 12-6 lead at the half.

Holding on to the lead in the third quarter were the Tigers who put up six points against the Gators four giving the Tigers an 18-10 lead going into the last quarter.

The Tiger offense was relentless in scoring 11 points and holding the Gators to seven for the victory.

Kentravious McMurry was leading scorer with 13 points. He knocked down three from three-point range, made one field goal and was perfect on free throws making two of two.
Kendricus Carlton scored six points shooting four-for-four from the free throw line and making one field goal.

Robert Hentz contributed five points which all came from the free throw line. He made five of six.
Also adding points from the free throw line were Cortavious Campbell who shot three of six. Montray Blackburn contributed one field goal to end the scoring.

The Tigers will be back in action at home Tuesday hosting Cleveland.
