Danny Chrestman, 74

MEMPHIS – Danny C. Chrestman, 74, died Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis.

Services were held Saturday, May 4, at Wells Funeral Home. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Chrestman was born on December 14, 1938 to Louise O’Bannon and  J. R. Rayford Chrestman in Batesville. He worked for Linkous Construction Company out of Memphis.

Survivors include: one daughter, Lisa Jean Alsbury of Joilet, Ill.; a sister, Jeannie Hollinger of Standardsville, Va., and three brothers, David Chrestman of Hernando, John Chrestman and Joel Chrestma, both of Batesville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Rex Hughes, 75

BATESVILLE – Rex Hughes, 75, formerly of Memphis, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, in Little Rock.

Services were held Saturday at Forrest Hill Funeral Home Midtown in Memphis.

Hughes was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include: two sons, Danny Hughes of Albertville, Ala. and Rex A. Hughes of Olive Branch; two daughters, Chastity Glick of Oklahoma City and Jackie Cross of Little Rock; brother, Larry Hughes of Collierville, Tenn.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Earline Parrish, 92

SLEDGE – Earline H. Parrish, 92, widow of Bilbo Parrish, died Saturday, May 4, 2013 at her daughter’s home in Tunica.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Hollywood Baptist Church in Sledge with Reverend Roy Hartzell presiding. Interment will follow in Longtown Cemetery near Crenshaw. Visitation will begin at noon prior to services at the church.

Parrish, born to James Franklin and Pauline Kirkpatrick Hamblin on July 28, 1920 in Houlka, was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church. She retired from Carter’s, Inc., in Senatobia.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Lee Parrish and Freddy Parrish.

Survivors include: four daughters, Billie Jones of Crenshaw, Shirley Hudspeth, Donna Wimberly of Sledge and Wanda Welch of Laurel; five sisters, Ella Matthews of Sledge, Myrtle Mayo of Crenshaw, Mary Sue O’Neal of Southaven, Gertrude Fair of West Point, Frances Hamblin of Missouri and one brother, Jake Hamblin of Illinois; 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Donald Phillip Radford Sr., 54

GREENWOOD – Donald Phillip Radford Sr., age 54, formerly of Batesville, died on Monday May 6, 2013 at his residence. 

Visitation will be held on today at  5 to 7 p.m. at the Williams and Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood.  Services will be held Wednesday 11 a.m. at Williams and Lord Funeral Home, with the Rev. Fletcher Moorman and Rev. Bernard Wiggins officiating.  Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in the Batesville Magnolia Cemetery.

He was born on February 16, 1959 to the late Tom and Faye Radford, in Batesville and resided in Greenwood the past 20 years. He worked for the Leflore County Sheriff’s Department for the past 10 years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Batesville.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a Son Donald Phillip Radford Jr.

Survivors include: his wife, Juanita Radford of Greenwood; three daughters, Rebecca Ragon of Pope, Jessica Webb of Holcomb, and Christin Melton of Cleveland;  one step daughter, Rebecca Renfroe of Batesville; one son, David Webb of Cleveland; one step son, Ronald Ragon of Parchman; two brothers, Jimmy Radford of Hernando, and Dennis Radford of St. Amant, La., one sister, Vicky Davis of Oxford; four grandchildren and seven step grandchildren.

Regina C. Killibrew Rattler, 64

BATESVILLE – Regina Killbrew Rattler, 64, died Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services will be held Saturday at Mt. Zion Church in Lambert at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Delta Burial in Marks. Delta Burial has charge of arrangements.

She was preceded in death by her husband, B. H. Rattler.

Survivors include: daughters, Ethel Rattler Keller, Gladys Rattler Cox, Marthine Jackson, all of Batesville and Mary Rattler of Chicago; one son, Raymond Jackson of Texas; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Stella Bross Shepherd, 74

CRENSHAW – Stella Bross Shepherd, 74, died Thursday, May 2, 2013 at her residence.

Services were held Sunday at Crenshaw Methodist Church. Burial was in Longtown Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Shepherd was a homemaker and a member of Crenshaw Methodist Church.

Survivors include: her husband, Billy Shepherd of Crenshaw; one daughter, Lisa Parker of Big Creek; two sisters, Lynda B. Parker and Marcia B. Redd, both of Crenshaw; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Crenshaw Methodist Church.

Lilly Pauline Wright Stevens, 77

SARDIS – Lilly Pauline Wright Stevens, 77, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at her residence.

Services were held Saturday at Ray-Nowell Funeral Home. Bro. Ryan Temple officiated. Burial was in Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home has charge.

Stevens, borth October 29, 1935 in Union County to the late Willie Herman Wright and Lillie Pearl Ramsey Wright, was a homemaker and a member of Union Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Stevens and one son, Jason Patrick Stevens.

Survivors include: two sons, Calvin L. “Skip” Stevens of Sardis and Chuck Stewart Stevens of Reagan, Tenn.; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Larry Dean Ware, 63

COURTLAND – Larry Dean Ware, 63, died Monday, April 29, 2013, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Memorial services were held Thursday at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Randy Hope officiating. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford had charge.

Born in Yalobusha County, Ware had lived in Courtland since 1995 after previously living in Oxford for several years. He had worked as a retail manager at several convenience stores for over 30 years.  He was a Baptist.

Survivors include two daughters, Christy Elaine Ware Busby of Abbeville and Melissa Kathryn Ware Wildmon of Oxford; two sons, Michael Dean Ware of Oxford and Steven Lynn Ware of Batesville; one brother, Roy Ware of Germantown; three sisters, Betty Pullen of Water Valley, Patricia Hubert of Houston, Texas and Clara Murphy of Bartlett, Tenn.; and 10 grandchildren.
