Two streaks came to an end Wednesday at the Magnolia Heights Holiday basketball tournament.
Led by Trey Butts’ 13 points, Magnolia Heights (2-8) halted its seven-game losing streak with a 46-27 win over North Delta. The Green Wave, which saw its six-game winning streak come to a end, was led in scoring by Jim Tom Copeland’s nine points.
North Delta (8-3) would rebound in the three-day tournament by defeating Southern Baptist 63-57 Thursday before falling to Lewisburg 71-38 Friday afternoon. The Wave opened the 2011 portion of its schedule last night at Tunica Academy.
Both North Delta boys and girls varsity squads will take part in Kirk Academy Invitational Tournament which is set to begin tomorrow.
The North Delta Lady Green Wave will take the court at 5:30 against Columbus Heritage followed by the boys contest at 6:45 as they also take on Heritage.
Against Magnolia Heights, Bryan Nickle followed Copeland in scoring with six points while Tyler Lee chipped in with four points. Renic Greenlee and Derrick Shawn added three each and Matthew Barefoot rounded out scoring with two points.
