BATESVILLE–Mary Bolen Draper, 60, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until service time. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Draper, born Oct. 1, 1948, to the late Birl M. Draper and Ruby Jones Bolen, was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She graduated from Crowder High School in 1966. She received her accounting degree from the University of Mississippi and went on to receive her law degree from the University of Mississippi. She had her private law practice with Bailey and Draper Law Firm of Batesville. She was a member of the Rotary Club, past president of the Garden Club and a member of the Mississippi Bar Association.
She was preceded in death by one son, Brian Keith Faulkner.
Survivors along with her mother include: her husband, Roderick V. Draper of Batesville; two step-daughters, Grace Draper Toulou and Elizabeth Draper Guerrero, both of Ft. Worth, Texas; four sisters, Carolyn Bolen Toliver, Margaret Bolen Darby, Helen Bolen Stroup, all of Batesville and Linda Bolen Respess of Crowder; one brother, Kenny Bolen of Batesville; two grandchildren, Malena Toulou and Caleb Guerrero.
Donna Lynn Gianelloni Smith, 50, died Friday, May 8, 2009, at The Regional Medical Center in Memphis.
Services were Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Ellis officiated. Burial was in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Smith was born September 23, 1958, in Lake Charles, La. to Dewey L. and Jo Ann Shankle Gianelloni Jr.
Survivors include: one daughter, Leisha Corder Hall of Grenada; one son, Adam J. Beard of Batesville; two brothers, Dewey Gianelloni of Batesville and John Gianelloni of Lake Charles, La.; her step-father, George Holvitz of Pope and four grandchildren.
POPE– Betty S. Johnson, 67, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009.
Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Forest Hill Funeral Home-East. Burial will be in Forest Hill East Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Forest Hill Funeral Home-East has charge.
She was preceded in death by one son, Louis Johnson.
Survivors include: her husband of 49 years, Don F. Johnson; one son, Ray Johnson of Mesquite, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy Kelly of Mesquite, Texas and Judy Ray of Pope; three brothers, William Garland Stewart of Somerville, Tenn., Tommie Doyle Stewart of Arlington and David Glenn Stewart of Southaven; and eight grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in lieu of flowers.
JACKSON– Sara Jeanelle Hancock Pardue, 80, died Friday, May 1, 2009, at St. Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson.
No services will be held. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.
Pardue, born Oct. 6, 1928, to the late William Paul Hancock and Isabel Heritage Hancock, was an apartment manager. She was a member of Briarwood Drive Baptist Church in Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Milton Clyde Pardue Sr.
Survivors include: one son, Milton Clyde Pardue Jr. of Monroe, Ga.; one sister, Mary H. Marguardt of Alexandria, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Earnestine Hancock of Indianola and Betty G. Hancock of Moorehead; four neices and nephews, Nelda Weaver of Belzoni, Robert Hancock of Hoover, Ala. and David Hancock of Tupelo.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
BATESVILLE–Mildred Pauline LaGrone, 81, died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
Services were Wednesday at New Enon M.B. Church. Rev. Robert Vaughn officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.
LaGrone, born June 21, 1927, to the late David Wiley and the late Lynna Fox, was a retired custodian and a member of New Enon M.B. Church.
Survivors include: his sister, Bernice Stinson of Batesville; six neices and two nephews.
Dona Elizabeth Worlds Milam, 93, died Saturday May 9, 2009, in Memphis. Milam is the widow of Amos J. Milam.
Services were Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Reverend Kevin Crofford officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Milam, born Oct. 17, 1915, in Lauderdale County, Tenn. was a member of Sardis Lake Baptist Church and was retired from Kimberly-Clark.
Survivors include: three daughters, Margaret Brandon of Senatobia, Dean Warren of Southaven and Bonnie Scheidhauer of Eads, Tenn.; one brother, Cecil Worlds of Memphis; 11 Grandchildren and 23 Great-Grandchildren.
Memorials made be sent to a charity of the donors choice.
OXFORD– Howard Reed, 65, died Thursday, April 16, 2009. He was the father of Jamie Axthelm and wife Liz of Batesville.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at MSCC Hunting Club, 447 Old Boyd Road in Kilmichael.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Reed and one son, Warren Reed.
Survivors along with his son include: his wife, Donna Reed of Oxford; four sons, Matt Reed and Stacie Reed of Biloxi, David Reed and Kris Reed of Eugene, Ore.; his mother, Olene Reed of Oxford; one sister, Linda Hill of Hazelhurst and eight grandchildren.
