Less than 48 hours after dropping a 26-point decision to top-ranked Delta, the North Delta varsity girls basketball team took some frustrations out by thumping an out-manned Calhoun Academy squad by a score of  51-15 Thursday night.

Linsey Hebert hit five-of-eight three-pointers for a game-high 19 points to lead the Lady Green Wave in scoring. The junior point guard also recorded 10 tips to go along with three steals and three assists. Lauren Kimzey was the only other scorer in double figures with 10 points, two rebounds and three assists.

North Delta (13-7) quickly raced out to a 12-2 lead in the early moments of the contest on a pair of treys by Hebert and a three-pointer by Bradi Beard from the left corner. Sara Waldrip canned a trey while  Kimzey added a pair of free throws as the Lady Wave built a 16-6 first quarter lead.

The second period was much the same as Hebert swished another three-ball from the corner pocket. Laci DuBravec later picked off a pass and went in for an easy layup to give North Delta a 25-6 lead with 5:43 remaining before halftime. Kimzey then added six points on three field goals as the home team went into the locker room with a 32-8 advantage.

For the game, North Delta shot 31 percent (19 – of- 61) from the floor and five-of-eight from the charity stripe while recording 20 steals on defense. Calhoun meanwhile connected on 6-of-28 shots and was outscored 14-0 in the fourth quarter by the Green Wave.

DuBravec followed Hebert and Kimzey in scoring with eight points, four steals and four assists while Waldrip and Beard added six each. Waldrip was a force on the defensive end with 11 rebounds,  five steals and four blocked shots. Jordan Pointer rounded out the scoring with two points and three boards. Hannah Waldrip was held scoreless in the game but did pull down five rebounds.
