Friday Football games

Due to concerns over Hurricane Ike in the gulf, South Panola officials are looking at moving the scheduled Friday game against Grenada to Thursday night.
South Panola principal Dr. Gearl Loden said he and superintendent Dr. Keith Shaffer are looking at the pattern the storm is taking and should have a decision by 2 p.m. today.
If the storm goes through Texas, the game will be played as scheduled. If it turns and goes through Louisiana, the schedule will likely change.
North Panola and North Delta officials could not be reached at press time.
The South Panola softball team is also on standby. If the football games are changed to Thursday, the ball team will play two games this afternoon against Grenada.
Also scheduled for Thursday is an away game for the ninth grade football team which will be either cancelled or postponed.
The rains are scheduled to move in Friday night or Saturday morning, according to Loden.
“We just don’t want people trying to get home in weather like this,” he said. “There will likely be thunder and lightning.”
