Skate ramp demo comes to Batesville

By Emily Williams

The Batesville Skatepark Committee will sponsor a skate demo Friday, September 5 at the Batesville Civic Center from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The American Ramp Company (ARC) will set up a complete skatepark so local riders can experience ARC equipment firsthand.

The mobile skatepark features equipment from each of their three product lines which will help decide which building method is right for communities, according to an ARC press release.

“Parents must sign a waiver and kids can rent a helmet or bring one,” said Skatepark president, Emily Griste.

“The event is free and we will be selling t-shirts, hamburgers, hot dogs and Starbucks drinks will be available,” said Griste.

All proceeds will benefit the skatepark.

The skatepark was recently granted $25,000 from last year’s budget, but is currently trying to raise more money for the future skatepark.

During the skate session the ARC will provide music, run some contests, give away prizes and will have a representative available to answer any questions and explain the products.

The waivers can be picked up at The Panolian.
