SP Tigers give head coach 100th victory
To start the season off right, the South Panola Tigers give head coach Lance Pogue his 100th coaching victory with a 27-6 win over Vicksburg in the second game of the Red Carpet Classic doubleheader.
In a surprising move, Clarksdale lost to Warren Central 21-12 in the first game.
The Tigers had to overcome first game jitters to win. Emerging as a secret weapon for the Tigers is sophomore receiver Nicklos Brassell who had five receptions for 169 yards. Quarterback David Renfroe completed 10 of 24 passes for 224 yards and one interception.
Nicholas Parker was the leading rusher with 20 carries on 160 yards.
The Tigers had a total of 388 yards while Vicksburg was held to 151 total yards.
North Panola defeats Coahoma County
The North Panola Cougars laid down the law on Coahoma and walked away with a 56-28 victory.
Quarterback Quin Ellis scored four touchdowns. Tailback Vernon Lewis had over 200 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Darius Loveberry pulled down one interception.
North Delta young team still struggles
North Delta could not find a way to get into the end zone as the Green Wave fell to Desoto, Ark. 21-0 and went down 0-2 for the season.
